A few things to know.

Does Owl support handheld scanning?

Only Owl Max premium. Owl standard and Owl premium scan from a tripod. Handheld mode is specified at 2 cm; the 5 mm at 10 m specification applies to stationary capture.

What can I check on site?

The unprocessed point cloud, to judge coverage and how stations connect. Full panoramas are generated in RayStudio after processing.

How long does each station take?

About 1 min 20 s in Fast mode, 2 min 30 s in Standard and 5 min in High resolution, which gives the densest point cloud for measuring. At each station, Owl turns once to scan with the laser and once more to take photos.

How do I get scans onto my computer?

Three ways: plug a USB drive (exFAT or NTFS) into Owl and export from the app, connect your computer to Owl’s Wi-Fi and transfer in RayStudio, or take out the microSD card and copy the project with a card reader.

Does AI create a finished floor plan?

No. RayCraft extracts the walls and JIMUMETA generates a basic floor plan. You check it against the point cloud in the 3D window, adjust walls, add doors and windows, then export. It is not a construction drawing.

Can I deliver files without keeping a tour online?

Yes. RayStudio processes and exports point clouds and panorama images on your computer, free and with no limit on projects or exports. Nothing has to be uploaded to JIMUMETA, and exported panoramas carry no watermark.

What is free?

RayStudio processing, supported point-cloud export and local panorama image generation and export, plus AI floor plan extraction, editing and PDF. CAD and GLB downloads, drafting and some hosting options are paid.

What does 5 mm at 10 m mean for my project?

It’s the stationary ranging accuracy at 10 m, not the handheld figure. Whole-room and drawing accuracy also depend on capture, alignment and editing.

Can I embed projects on my website?

Yes. Embed a JIMUMETA-hosted project, or show exported panorama images in your own viewer; exported images are not a complete tour. Watermarks and link validity for hosted projects depend on your plan.

Which edition should I choose?

Owl standard and Owl premium include the 3-camera scanner for stationary capture. Owl Max premium includes the 5-camera scanner, adding handheld mode and binocular visual tracking. Compare editions lists what is in each box.

Which iPad or phone do I need?

On iPad, the capture app runs on models with an M1 chip or newer. On a phone, connect to Owl’s Wi-Fi and scan from your web browser; there is no app to install. The iPad or phone is not included.

Is there a subscription?

No. Owl is a one-time purchase, and scanning, RayStudio processing and local exports need no subscription. JIMUMETA hosting is optional, with free and paid plans.

Will it work with my software?

Exported point clouds and panorama images work in compatible software; check formats and project size in your app. Raw scan projects need additional integration.

Can Owl scan outdoors or unusual materials?

Owl works indoors and outdoors, but it is not waterproof. Dark or low-reflectivity surfaces, glass, mirrors, occlusion and moving people all affect capture.

When will my Owl order ship?

Shipping is expected to begin on November 10, 2026. Orders will be dispatched by sea in the order they are placed, with all pre-orders expected to ship by the end of the pre-order period.

Once production is complete, please allow 2–5 business days for order processing, followed by an estimated 21–28 days in transit.

Bring the site into your next project.

Notes

  1. Common hardware specifications apply across the three editions; capture modes differ. Whole-room and drawing accuracy also depend on capture, alignment and editing.

  2. Point-cloud views may use height color, transparency and cropping; fly-throughs are rendered in a single color. Gaps in the floor or ground at stations are filled for display. Shop signs are blurred in gallery images. AI floor plans are a starting point; check dimensions against the point cloud before you rely on them.

  3. Videos are edited; clip duration is not scan time. Camera resolution does not specify point-cloud density or ranging accuracy.

  4. JIMUMETA outputs, hosting, sharing and embedding depend on the selected service and plan.

  5. Launch starts November 3. First-batch prices apply to the first 100 units of each bundle; later launch prices apply after that. Up to 44% off refers to the Owl standard first-batch price. Accessory prices shown are launch prices.
